Me
I spent more than 20 years teaching college students all about American literature, women authors, Literary Theory, and writing—both academic and creative. I loved teaching, LOVED the students I was honored to serve, and loved learning from them.
But I did not love the creeping work load fueled by insatiable administrative demands that left no room for anything else. I did not love the gender-based pay inequity, and I absolutely did not love the growing restrictions on academic freedoms for me and my students, or the increasingly less welcoming environment for some of the university’s most vulnerable community members.
So I walked away.
I walked back into looking for wonder in the world, making time to take care of me and my family, investing in meaningful relationships with former students and friends, and remembering how to live gently in the world.
And I walked back into my writing.
It’s not quite the dark, historical fantasy I gave you in The Bohemian Trilogy. I promise I’ll get back to Mouse’s ongoing saga soon. But other voices have been calling to me. I needed to listen.
I am excited about sharing these new stories with you and introducing you to characters I know you will come to love (or sometimes hate) as much as I do.
